George A. Romero tries to seize the zombie throne from The Walking Dead

If you're a fan of the zombie genre, the past couple of years may have felt like heaven to you, especially considering the wide range of zombie TV shows offered. The ever so popularThe Walking Dead still has one of the highest viewer ratings among cable TV series, and there is also Z Nation and the ongoing iZombie. There are already many options to choose from without even mentioning that, this summer, we'll get the spinoff of The Walking Dead: Fear the Walking Dead, that will air on AMC, just like the original series.
If you still haven't hit the ceiling of your zombie addiction then here's some good news for you: George A. Romero's comics called the Empire of the Dead will also arrive on the TV screens, in the near future. If everything goes according to the plan, the mini comic series consisting of 15 pieces will be a mini TV-show and if it's a success like almost every other zombie TV show nowadays, we can be sure that many seasons will follow.
The special thing about the Empire of the Dead is that it features not only zombies but also vampires and both undead races want to feed on the remaining human survivors. Taking into account the comics' graphic violence, we can expect that the TV adaptation will screen on a cable channel to remain loyal to the original comics.
George A. Romero is getting some help, from his friends, creating the TV show. Peter Grunwald, that has already collaborated with Mr. Romero in the past, will serve as producer of the zombie series. He has previously been the producer of Land of the Dead (2005), Diary of the Dead (2007) and Survival of the Dead(2009). Sam Englabert and D. Johnson will also join as producers of the show.
Mr. Romero is basically the father of the zombie genre, having directed cult movies like Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985). The main difference between Romero's early movies and thezombie films that appeared in the 90's and 2000's is that Romero's zombieswere a symbol for a consumer society, which served as the true fear during the movies.
Unfortunately, Mr. Romero has recently lost his magic touch in the genre, but if the TV adaptation of his comics falls in the right hands and in the right cable channel, Empire of the Dead may very well dethrone The Walking Dead from the top of the list of zombie TV shows. Or at least it has the potential to do so.

Jonathan Harker

Harker is a recently admitted solicitor from England, who is deputed by his employer, Mr. Peter Hawkins, of Exeter, to act as an estate agent for a foreign client named Count Dracula who wishes to move to England. Harker discovers in Carfax Abbey, near Purfleet, Essex, a dwelling which suits the client's requirements and travels to Transylvania by train in order to consult with him about it.

At Bistritz Harker takes a coach to the Borgo Pass where at midnight another coach drawn by four black horses, waits to take him to Castle Dracula high in the Carpathian Mountains. At the castle Harker is greeted by the mysterious and ominous Count Dracula and finalises the property transaction. Soon, however Harker realises he has been made a prisoner by his host who is revealed as a vampire. Harker also has a dangerous encounter with the three seductive Brides of Dracula, whose designs on him are only thwarted by the intervention of the Count.

Later, he manages to escape, finding refuge at a convent. He has a mental breakdown upon arriving at the convent because of his encounters with Dracula; his fiance, Mina Murray, comes to nurse him back to health with the nuns' help and marries him there. He returns home to England and later sees Dracula in London. After learning Dracula killed Lucy, he joins Van Helsing, Seward, Holmwood, and Morris. His clerical skills prove very useful for collecting information and for tracking down Dracula's London lairs by means of paperwork. He vows to destroy Dracula and, if he could, to send "his soul forever and ever to burning to hell[..]!" even if it be at the cost of own soul. When confronted with Mina's curse, however, he is unsure how to react; Mina asks the others in the group to kill her if the need comes. While Harker says he would, in the privacy of his journal says that if it is necessary, that he would become a vampire himself out of his love for her. However, Harker manages to avoid that because along with Van Helsing and the others he manages to destroy Dracula. At the book's climax, he pries open Dracula's coffin mere moments before sunset and slashes open Dracula's throat with a kukri knife, possibly decapitating him, while Quincey Morris stabs him in the heart with a Bowie knife.

In a note following the end of the novel, it is revealed that seven years have passed. He and Mina have a son whom they have named after all four members of the part, but call Quincey, after Quincey Morris. Noting Quincey Harker's birthday is the day Quincey Morris died fighting Dracula, Mina likes to think that some of Morris' spirit is in their son. Jonathan Harker eventually visits Dracula's castle along with his wife and son and their surviving friends to reminisce. He returns home with his wife and son and is told by Van Helsing that one day his son will learn the whole story.

Bats are nocturnal flying mammals. There are many types of bats, and they are one of the leading
animals that transmit rabies to humans. Bats infected with rabies are more aggressive then a normal non infected bat. Prior statistics found in the crypt world rule book may be used for the non-infected bat...
